There are an estimated 5,000 new cases of myeloma in the UK every year, so why should this stop you from travelling? Our specialist product provides a fully comprehensive policy, including cover for cancer and gives you the peace of mind to relax, take in the sun and enjoy your break.
If your treatment has involved chemotherapy, radiotherapy, a stem cell or bone marrow transplant, or even surgical intervention you can look to Freedom Insurance to provide cover for your trip. We understand the difficulty to obtain travel insurance whilst undergoing treatment, but even more so, we understand the importance. We won’t penalise you for medication given to prevent effects of your cancer treatment, such as steroids causing insomnia, stomach pain or increased risk of infection.
The Freedom policy aims to cover every eventuality regarding myeloma and we know that remission may only be temporary. If, after taking out a policy or whilst travelling, you begin to experience symptoms such as fatigue, bone pain or infection, you can rest assured that the Freedom policy will fully cover you for emergency medical expenses or cancellation of your planned trip. There are scenarios when we are unable to provide annual multi-trip cover, but we will always endeavour to provide a suitable and tailored insurance policy for each individual trip, whether you are travelling to the Algarve in Portugal or taking to the skies to marvel at the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.

We have vast experience of insuring patients and past sufferers with all types of cancer that other insurers may decline. We will take the time to understand the patient’s current state of health at the time of taking out a policy, this includes those currently being treated for multiple myeloma or those in remission.
We understand treatment for patients with myeloma can be very effective at controlling the disease and relieving symptoms but can cause a series of side effects, such as insomnia or muscle weakness. Our aim is to tailor a policy that specifically meets your individual needs, making sure you have the right level of cover for your trip and giving you complete security when travelling.
If you cancel because of a development with your condition or if you need emergency medical assistance on holiday, then you can rest assured, Freedom’s cancer travel and holiday insurance will protect you every step of the way.
Speak to your consultant
Discuss your travel destination with your GP, they’ll be able to advise on appropriate destinations, vaccinations and any recommended precautions you should take. If you are a patient undergoing treatment, they can often arrange this around your travel plans
Keep active!
Stay mobile during the flight, stand at least once an hour to keep your blood flowing and prevent clots. Ensure you have medication that is available during the flight and stay hydrated
Treatment Plan
Patients with cancer treatments, such as chemotherapy can weaken your immune system - discuss risk of infection and ensure you are vaccinated for your travel. Take all your medication and extras in case of delays, loss or theft
You can apply here online or over the telephone; it’s quick, simple and totally confidential. To provide you with a quote, you’ll need to let us know where you are travelling to, and for how long.
Make sure to declare your multiple myeloma and any other pre-existing medical conditions that apply to you and anyone else on the policy. You will be guided through a medical screening questionnaire, where a series of relevant questions will be asked to assess your health. These questions should be answered accurately and to the best of your knowledge. You will then be presented with available policy options, which include cover for declared medical conditions as well as cover for cancellation, baggage, personal accident and lots more.
If you get stuck at any point, feel free to call and speak to one of our insurance agents who will gladly assist you.
